Ingredients:
2 lbs Butterball Turkey Drums
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
Sauce:
3 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, finely minced
2 Tbsp fresh ginger, finely minced
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 tsp salt
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine the ginger, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, brown sugar, salt and black pepper. Add the Butterball Turkey Drums and rub all over to coat.
- Load your Ninja Woodfire Grill & Smoker with your pellets of choice. Then, add the dry rubbed turkey drums and close the smoker. Set your Ninja to “Smoker” at 250 degrees for 1 hour and 45 minutes, then turn on.
- While the turkey smokes, make the sauce. In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium low, then add the onions, garlic, and ginger. Sweat for 8-9 minutes, then add all of the remaining ingredients. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to a low simmer. Cook for 35-45 minutes, or until thickened, then remove and set aside.
- When the turkey drums are done and have reached an internal temperature of 180˚F/82˚C, remove and use a pastry brush to spread on some of the sauce. Serve right away with some extra sauce on the side and enjoy!
